History of Flying Simulator Games

The history of flying simulators dates back to the early 1900s, and they have been around for over a century as a pilot training tool, but have only been used in recent history by gamers as a form of entertainment. There are currently numerous flight sims on the market accessible to the general public. These product are now not only popular in flight schools, but in homes around the word. Flying simulator games have an interesting history, and have evolved dramatically over the past century.

Flight simulators have taken many forms over history, but have always been systems designed to recreate the flight experience. Initially these systems were developed as military training tools around wartime, as well as for airline pilot flight training. Flight simulators were first developed around 1900 for pilots (both military and civilian) in training. With these simulators, pilots were able to practice flying from a safe environment, and get behind flight controls before being airborne.
